Don't Learn to Swim in Ireland

Classes have started and we're underway learning Irish the hard way. I'm not entirely sure there's an easy way but being babbled at in Irish by a native speaker isn't the way for me to learn the language. Our Irish teacher, Patsy, has been trying really hard to help us figure it out. He gave us a nice handout on Irish grammar, but the whole sheet's in Irish, including the paragraphs that explain what the handout is about. Everyone else that bothers to attend class seems to be just as stressed about the situation as I am, so now I'm just like "don't learn to swim in Ireland" and people say "because of the cliffs" and I respond "because they'll just toss you over."

Gleann Cholm Cille agus Oideas Gael

After a few days of classes and nights at the pub, my schedule is finally starting to get on track. Apparently not all of the classes are required but I still want to do all of them so I've been really busy. We have Irish language class every morning and two other cultural/academic classes later in the day. We've done a poetry workshop, a class on Gaeltacht studies, a bodhran class, and a few hikes around the Gleann so far. More later since it's time to go to weaving class.
